How to Understand a Thorn (2 Corinthians 12:7-10) – There are all types of thorns that we can experience - emotional, relational, financial, and physical. Dr. Evans teaches us that God gives the thorn but Satan delivers it. The use of a thorn can be used to expand our anointing or to keep us from exalting ourselves so we are dependent on God. Whatever your thoughts are on thorns in the flesh, you will find a deeper and broader meaning when you listen to this message.
The Detours of Pardon (Genesis 50:15-26) – Many times we aren’t reaching our destination because we are still carrying the pain of the past. There are two types of forgiveness -
unilateral is when we forgive a person who hasn’t asked for it. It prevents us from being held hostage.
Transactional is a personal desire for reconciliation and restoration from a broken relationship. Learn the signs to validate your forgiveness of others.
Forgive One Another (Colossians 3:12-14) – Many Christians have a spiritual collar around their necks made up of anger, bitterness, resentment, wrath and revenge. Forgiving by choice releases a person from a wrong committed against them but doesn’t necessarily mean reconciliation. Refusing to forgive is to burn a bridge over which they must cross one day. Ask yourself, am I being held hostage by not forgiving my enemies?
Freedom From Yesterday (Numbers 14:1-10) – Freedom is a word that is hard to define. The biblical definition of freedom is the release from illegitimate bondage so that you are able to experience becoming what you were created and redeemed to be. God wants you to leave your past and discover Him when you are experiencing the wilderness. By acting on faith and renewing your mind you are getting younger spiritually and God is doing new things you have never seen.
Trusting God (Mark 11:20-26) – Moving mountains in our lives is not a lack of faith, but it must be faith in God—not faith in faith. Dr. Evans reminds us that prayer is a two-way communication that requires time and the open Word so it can be written on our heart. Many times our prayers consist of us telling God what we want and not listening to His Spirit as He tells us what He wants. If our mountain does not move we need to examine our hearts and see if we need to forgive someone who has wronged us so God will answer our prayers.
The Pardon of Prayer (Matthew 6:12) – In the Lord’s Prayer we ask God to forgive us our debts as we forgive others. We no longer want the offense credited to our account but enjoy freedom from being pardoned. However, our relationship with God is interrupted when we don’t freely pardon those who have wronged us. Forgiveness is crucial because we want grace from God and not justice - but if we are not willing to offer grace to others then God won’t forgive us. Relief from physical ailments can many times be experienced through forgiveness.
