As Christians, any of us know what it is to be tired. Now you may not admit it because it doesn’t sound spiritual but if you were honest, it can be tiring being a follower of Jesus because you often have to be isolated. We all live lives that intersect with those who don’t share our faith. We often have to change places or habits or things that were very comfortable for you back in the day when you were in the world and it looks like the sinners are having the fun and you aren’t. Using the Book of Hebrews as his backdrop, Tony Evans says through it all, the Lord wants us to endure because the eternal reward will far surpass the struggle.

Speaking Through the Son (Hebrews 1:1-14) - Whereas in the days of the Old Testament, God communicated to His children in a variety of ways, in these last days God has spoken to us by his Son. Of the Son the author of Hebrews says, "Let the angels worship him," and, "Your throne, O God, is forever."

So Great a Salvation (Hebrews 2:1-18) - We must pay closer attention to what God is saying. Jesus Christ, the author of salvation, tasted death for everyone; He was made like us to make atonement for our sins. Therefore, we should strive to truly understand everything Christ said and did during His life on earth.

Staying True to Christ (Hebrews 3:1-19) - Jesus has been given more honor than Moses. In fact, He is the Son over God's own house. Therefore, we should not harden our hearts as the Jews did during their rebellion but to faithfully receive Him as Savior and Lord.

Don’t Miss Out on God’s Rest (Hebrews 4:1-16) - Through our righteous fear, we will remain loyal to God and will "endure for the rest." The word of God judges the heart, so we boldly approach the throne of grace, knowing that our righteous fear of God and our fervent faith in the work of His Son will delight Him.

The Great High Priest (Hebrews 5:1 - 6:14) - Every high priest from among men is subject to weakness and serves temporarily because the power of death over all people. However, Christ is a high priest in the order of Melchizedek and death has no hold over Him. As such, we are in constant need of His correction and His wisdom.

Holding On to Hope (Hebrews 6:15 - 7:25) - We should press on to maturity with equally mature teaching and not worry about those who are only “tasting the heavenly glory.” The promise of God is a steadfast anchor for the soul and it means we can be assured that His blessing and eternity with Him is secured through our High Priest, Jesus Christ.

The New Covenant (Hebrews 7:26 - 8:13) - We have a high priest who ministers to us and His name is Jesus Christ. He mediates a better covenant between us and the Father. He says, "I will write my laws on their hearts." The high priest enters the Most Holy Place once a year with blood. Christ entered the true holy place once for all by his own blood.
